Who We Are
Rhythm Express, well known for stellar vocal and musical arrangements, has performed at hundreds of weddings, parties, corporate events, and clubs in Southern California for more than 25 years. By performing as a duo, trio, 4-piece, 5-piece, or larger, and offering a wide range of musical styles suitable for all ages, we are able to customize a musical presentation just perfect for your occasion. Keyboardist/vocalist extraordinaire Nathan Fry and vocalist Janet Hammer form the foundation of the band. Together they have a repertoire of over a thousand songs in all genres. Drummer Toby Ahrens keeps the perfect rhythm and guitarist/vocalist Guy Gonzalez adds his finesse to the mix. We also add our fabulous saxophone player for the fifth member.

My wife and I visited the Schwaesdall Winery in Ramona Wine country last weekend and had a great relaxing day. The Schwaesdall Winery has a Summer Free concert series, where bands, singers, and entertainers, visit the winery for about 3 hours to perform Free for the public.
The setting for the concerts is so relaxing, as you sit under the shade of beautiful large trees, at tables with umbrellas, as you listen to star entertainment performing on a large patio type stage, over looking the beautiful Schwaesdall Winery and Ramona mountains.
This Sunday the Winery was excited to have " Janet Hammer and Nathan Fry and the Rhythm Express Band ", performing. Nathan Fry and Janet Hammer known as " The Double Take Duo" and the " Rhythm Express Band " have been delighting audiences together for almost 25
years. They have been working steadily at the finest venues in Southern California as well as hundreds of private events. The band has many returning fans as the winery was very full for the concert. Nathan and Janet's performance of The Phantom of The Opera classic " All I ask of you brought chills to my spine and almost made me cry. I have seen Phantom of the Opera 22 times on Broadway in New York at the Majestic Theater, and this performance sounded just like I was there again. " Rhythm Express Band " is well known for stellar vocal and musical arrangements. " Rhythm Express Band " plays such a wide variety of music genres and styles, that span over 80 years. From Swing through Contemporary Pop and everything in between. Their song list is extensive ! Nathan's voice is so mellow, and the brilliant way he covers all the instruments on his keyboard, to make it sound like a full orchestra or band is amazing. Together with Janet's Hammer's beautiful singing voice, they blend together for a wonderful strength and harmony performance which I have never heard before. The other " Rhythm Express Band " members were, on drums Toby Ahrens, and the electric guitar player with vocals, was Steve Nichols. Guy Gonzalez on Guitar/Vocals and Don Bowman on Sax/Vocals also play with the Rhythm Express Band regularly.
